Watercolor

  • Most popular choice
  • Color portrait
  • Background options available

This is also the most versatile rendering I offer because we can choose to style your painting according to the clarity of the reference photo you provide. This makes it a good option if you only have blurry pictures available.

I offer color wash backgrounds with all watercolor portraits or you can choose a different background for an additional charge.

Recently, this is my most popular option for portraits so this is also my most practiced medium.

Colored Pencil

  • Most detailed color portrait option
  • High quality reference photo required
  • Blank background
  • Takes the longest to complete

This is perhaps my favorite medium for high contrast and colorful animals. This portrait medium enables the creation of really lovely hues and details all in one image. It does take significantly longer to complete and is usually priced accordingly within the range.

I do not usually offer background options for this medium to cut down on time and cost, but I am happy to discuss if you feel strongly about adding one.

Ink – Realistic

  • Black and White portrait
  • Blank background
  • High quality reference photo recommended
  • Ideal for additional product creation additions such as stickers, keychains, or other graphic prints

This is a great option for those looking for sharp contrast and great detail potential without any color. I usually do not recommend large ink portraits for dark colored pets versus watercolor, or for particularly frizzy fur types.

I have been exploring Ink options for a long time with my fantasy and personal art and am very comfortable with this medium. I recommend this most for smaller portraits.

Ink – One Line Art

  • Blank background
  • Modern and abstract design
  • More affordable option for multiple pets
  • Great opportunity to incorporate a special item in your portrait

This is a fun and more abstract way to capture your pet. I usually ask if you would like to include an item, such as a favorite toy, in these portraits to make the rendering more indicative of your particular pet. This is a clean and more subtle nod to your pet compared to other mediums, but the results are elegant and unique. This is also a great option if you only have blurry pictures available.

Graphite/ Pencil

  • Grayscale portrait
  • Background options
  • High quality reference photo required

This is a great choice for those seeking details but no color. While ink can show details, pencil allows for more shadow and texture to be indicated in your final portrait. This is always a great option for those looking to capture the fur markings and “color” of a pet without actually using color.
